Another 32,000 people are about to say goodbye to basic income once and for all. Tomorrow, Friday, August 25th, INPS will send more than 30,000 new termination notices to a large number of RDC card holders, so they will no longer receive monthly benefits. The same thing happened to almost 160,000 families last month, sparking protests in many cities, especially in the south of Italy. The arrival of the new income stop text messages was confirmed by Diego De Felice, INPS central communications director, who was interviewed during the Agorà Estate broadcast on Rai3: “The law stipulates that the citizen’s income will be terminated after seven months in 2023. Therefore, INPS will notify recipients when they reach the seventh month. 159,000 people received this SMS in July. Tomorrow 32,850 people will receive the message”:

And these will certainly not be the last, as De Felice underlines, in the coming months, the same communication will reach tens of thousands of other Italian families until December 2023, when the measure will definitively be withdrawn from the scene: “Let’s join hands”. 40 thousand more people will climb from here in December. In other words, there will be 240 thousand households where basic income will be suspended. People who will receive this text message will go to the INPS website and, if they think, will apply for the measure called Education and Work Support.”
“People who are called ’employable’ can therefore be accompanied towards a career path. These people enter Siisl, the Inps platform that has been active since September 1, which provides the opportunity to start or enter a job.
