Gas price rises again: “1,459 euros per year for families”

The energy regulator (Arera) updates the cost of energy with the gas conservation law valid in September, with an increase of 4.8% compared to August.

The increase was entirely due to the increase in natural gas expenditures (+4.8%), while charges for transportation and metering expenditures remained unchanged. It has been approved to manage heat and district heating, as well as to abolish general charges for September and the whole of 2023 and reduce VAT to 5%.

A typical family’s gas expenditure between October 2022 and September 2023 was approximately €1,459 before taxes, a decrease of 13.9% compared to the equivalent 12 months of the previous year.

It is also worth remembering that the Energy Law Decree, approved by the Council of Ministers on September 25, provides an extraordinary contribution (increasing as the number of families increases) from October to December for disabled families who already receive electricity bonuses. ISEE level up to 15,000 Euros (30,000 Euros for large families). The total allocation is 300 million euros.
