Prime Minister Morawiecki responded to the disturbing statement of a member of parliament from the Civic Coalition about the possibility of withdrawing from the contract with the Americans for the construction of a nuclear power plant.
The MP of the Civic Coalition of the Greens, Urszula Zielińska, who is running in the Sejm elections from second place on the list in Warsaw, did not rule out that the eventual KO government would withdraw from the contract with the Westinghouse-consortium and Bechtel companies. on the construction of the first Polish nuclear power plant in Poland.
Troubling words from MP KO. The Prime Minister responds
The PiS staff responded quickly to these words. On the same day, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki appeared at a venue where he warned about the return of Donald Tusk’s team to power in the context of energy security.
The material shows only a very short fragment of Zielińska’s statement, but it was not separated from the main context, namely the Green Party leader’s indication that the contract could be revoked.
“Tusk’s coalition is considering violating the Polish-American energy alliance! This is sheer madness and extreme irresponsibility!” – the Prime Minister wrote on website X and commented on this statement.
The head of government emphasized that, among other things, the PiS government, thanks to its cooperation with the Americans, guarantees Poland’s security and rapid economic development.
Nuclear power plant. What did Zielinska say?
What was it about? Well, in a morning broadcast on Radio ZET, on the topic of the agreement between the Polish authorities and the American consortium, the KO parliamentarian said what shortcomings she believed the concluded agreement had (lack of an appropriate financing plan) and what steps the current De opposition government planned to take action in this regard if it won the elections. At one point she was asked whether the Civic Coalition was considering the possibility of breaking the contract signed by PiS.
– We have to find out how binding it is and what penalties we will get if we withdraw from this contract – Zielińska said. – We have to look at everything and take everything into account. Of course, she added.
Zielińska said that checking the concluded contract is a consensus of the entire Civic Coalition.
The TVP Info portal pointed out that Zielińska had repeatedly spoken out as an opponent of the construction of nuclear power plants in Poland. In its program, KO expresses support for nuclear energy, which is why the statement of the representative of the formation can be very confusing.
