The gas bill of the typical family protected by September consumption increases: Arera recorded an increase of 4.8% compared to August, determined entirely by the growth in spending on natural gas. In terms of final effects, the typical family’s gas expenses in the current year (October 2022 – September 2023) are approximately 1,459 euros, before taxes, and decrease by 13.9% compared to the equivalent 12 months of the previous year ( October 2021 – September 2022).
The gas price component to cover supply costs, applied to customers still protected, is updated by Arera as a monthly average of the price on the Italian wholesale market (the next day’s PSV) and published in the first 2 working days of the following month to the reference month. In the month of September, which recorded a higher average wholesale price than in August, the price of the raw material gas alone, for customers with contracts under protected conditions, was equal to 37.05 euros/Mwh. General charges and the tariff associated with the cost of transportation and measurement remain unchanged. The elimination of general charges and the reduction of VAT to 5% were confirmed for September and for the entire year 2023, as well as for the management of heat and district heating.
