New Orlen wind farms. Obajtek provided details

The president of Orlen announced the conclusion of an agreement for the purchase of two wind farms from a company belonging to the British fund Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust PLC. “Another important investment by the ORLEN Group in renewable energy sources! We have entered into a conditional agreement for the purchase of two wind farms from a company belonging to the British fund Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust PLC. Plants with a total capacity of approximately 60 MW are located in the Wielkopolska and Western Pomerania voivodeships. We are consistently implementing our strategic objectives to achieve 9 GW of renewable energy by 2030,” Daniel Obajtek wrote on the X website.

Another investment

Orlen invests intensively in renewable energy sources, including wind farms. On Monday, the Płock company obtained the necessary concessions from the Ministry of Infrastructure for the construction of a wind farm in the Baltic Sea.

Four of the five licenses granted to the Orlen Group are located on the Oderbank, near Kołobrzeg. The fifth location is at Słupsk Bank. This area borders the site of the Baltic Power wind farm, which the company is building together with Canadian partner Northland Power. This is currently the most advanced offshore wind farm project in Poland. The park with a capacity of 1.2 GW will start producing electricity in 2026.

The construction of an offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea is one of PKN Orlen’s key development projects, which is part of the company’s strategy, which presupposes investments in low- or zero-emission generation sources. The company is working to develop offshore wind energy through Baltic Power, which is licensed to build wind farms with a maximum total capacity of up to 1.2 GW. The area, with a total area of approximately 131 km2, is located approximately 23 km north of the Baltic Sea coast, near Choczewo and Łeba.
