Americans may be about to make an important decision, says Jacek Bartosiak, discussing the geopolitical game in the Middle East in the context of Hamas’ attack on Israel.
The geostrategic situation in the context of Hamas’s fighting with Israel was commented on the YouTube channel “Historia realna” by Piotr Zychowicz, Dr. Jacek Bartosiak, Strategy & Future expert in the field of geopolitics and political and military strategy.
Bartosiak put forward a thesis on the possible main reason for Hamas’s attack on Israel now.
Bartosiak: Petrodollar is at risk
– A few months ago, an attempt was made to radically reorganize order in the Middle East. Well, Saudi Arabia has reached an agreement with China – which already buys most of Saudi Arabia’s oil – that they will settle their accounts in Chinese yuan. But the Chinese also forced Saudi Arabia, at least at the declarative level, to reach an agreement with Iran and end the ongoing game of balance that began with the Americans’ departure from Mesopotamia, the analyst said.
Bartosiak explained that this was surprising to the US government. – Because it has a chance to end the domination of the global financial order called petrodolar – he said, recalling that this is a US-Saudi arrangement, which includes, among other things: that Saudi Arabia sells oil to contractors for dollars and in return receives security guarantees and weapons from the US. – Since every modern country needs oil, it worked. […] This system is the basis of the United States’ power, Bartosiak recalled.
The expert pointed out that this potential trade between Saudi Arabia and Iran, of which China is the midwife, created the potential to move away from the petrodollar. He added that in recent months the Saudis have begun blackmailing Americans into abandoning this close alliance with the US in favor of China. – The Americans are indeed almost out of chips. That is why there have been negotiations in recent weeks – Saudi Arabia – Israel – the US. Against this backdrop, there were also discussions about building a trade corridor through Israel, bypassing Iran and China, while the key was Saudi Arabia demanding US permission to enrich uranium and thus civilian nuclear power. This smells like the proliferation of nuclear weapons, Bartosiak said.
Near East. Americans respond
– As we see Eurasia’s economic power growing, and China’s potential to build a technological, economic and security system around itself, Americans may increasingly agree that in order to assert their primacy will allow their allies to have nuclear weapons. “I’m not saying that’s the case, but the Saudi crown prince certainly thought so and has made statements many times in recent weeks,” he added.
– The Saudis are afraid that Iran will have nuclear weapons, especially because the Americans are leaving, everyone is afraid that the Americans will leave, we are also afraid that they will leave or lose somewhere, that’s why they want nuclear weapons. But this is contrary to US policy to combat proliferation since 1945. So the Americans may be about to make an important decision and may have flirted with Saudi Arabia in this way, the analyst said. “Israel has said it has no objection to Saudi Arabia having the ability to enrich uranium,” he added.
Hamas in Iran’s game
– So Iran, which is behind Hamas, has ordered an attack to overthrow it? – said Zychowicz.
Bartosiak confirmed that this may be the case. – If Saudi Arabia saw Palestinians being killed in the Gaza Strip, what we have now would make it difficult for the Saudis to reach an agreement with Israel. […] The Chinese are also not happy with the Saudis signing such agreements. Ultimately, this is the game, Bartosiak said.
– These few dozen, and then several hundred, guys on motorcycles with Kalashnikovs are in fact just pawns in the game of the powers in the Middle East – Zychowicz summarized.
– It is always like that – Bartosiak added, emphasizing that he was talking about the geopolitical game in which Hamas was involved, which does not exclude his own game.
Attack on civilians
Massive military operations against Israel began on Saturday. It started with a rocket attack, after which Hamas militias invaded Israeli territory in many places and attacked more than twenty cities. For this purpose, use was made of, among other things: paragliders and underground tunnels. The victims were Israeli citizens and officials. According to estimates, the militants took about 100 hostages.
Hamas is a radical Islamic organization whose main goal is the liberation of Palestine from Israeli occupation. The armed branch of Hamas is the al-Qassam Brigades.
Israel’s response
Prime Minister Netanyahu announced that the country was in a state of war, and the Foreign Minister said that Israel would completely blockade the Gaza Strip. The Zone itself is under fire from Israeli aircraft. The victims of air strikes are mainly civilians.
Israeli forces have recaptured all settlements captured by Hamas, but fighting with the militants continues. In addition, Israel announced the mobilization of 300,000 conscripts who find themselves in a combat zone. Preparations for a ground operation in the Gaza Strip are in full swing.
Since Saturday, a thousand Palestinians have been killed and five thousand injured. Among the Israelis, losses amount to at least 1,200 dead and 3,000 wounded.
