Bonus in kindergartens increases to 3,600: Who will be eligible for it

3600 Euro bonus from the moment the second child starts kindergarten. The government continues and approves incentives for families and birth rates from 2024. The measures were included in the Budget Law and were financed with additional resources of over 150 million euros. As Family Minister Roccella reminded, this is a matter of making nursery attendance almost free for children from large families. However, the measure is non-structural and will only remain in force for 2024 unless extended. Funding will be paid monthly, as with current bonuses.

According to INPS data, the average annual expenditure by Italian families for kindergarten corresponds to 10 monthly payments of 260 euros each. A figure that will be fully covered by the new nursery bonus envisaged for the second child.

As the gem Il Sole 24 reminds, currently the nursery bonus (for an only child) stands at 2,500 euros per year for ISEE incomes between 25 thousand and 40 thousand euros, reaching 3 thousand euros per year below the threshold of 25 thousand euros. However, for families with annual ISEE over 40 thousand euros, this amount corresponds to only 1500 euros. Figures that will not change in the case of the first child.

Criticism from the opposition: “There are no nurseries, bonuses will only affect the North”

The measures have already found the first critical voices from the opposition: “From the maneuver, I see that starting from the second child you no longer pay for kindergarten. So where are the kindergartens? The problem is that there are not enough kindergartens.” He attacks the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala.

“Meloni and Roccella should know that the birth rate is linked to women’s work, not their good will. After discovering the lie about the free second child, there is a risk that the nursery bonus will only go to the North, where women already have more children because they work and there are nurseries. Meloni It is a shame that his government instead decided to cut funding for the nursery projects that we envisaged in Pnrr and did not work to ensure that the 30 percent number of places clause was respected for women and the 40 percent employment in the South,” adds Democratic Party senator Valeria Valente.
