“As oil prices rise above $90, a barrel in Colombia presents a countercyclical behavior dropping 38% of activity from drilling new wells and impacting the local workforce and changing the trend of production growth with which we closed December 2022, which reached 785,000 barrels per day,” said Nelson Castañeda, executive president of Campetrol.
In the seventh month of the year the drill drill registered 37 active teams, one decrease of 5.1% compared to August 2023, and 38.3% compared to September 2022.
The number of active workover exercises was 80, indicating a Decrease of 2.4% compared to August 2023, and 16.7% compared to September 2022, the association indicates.
“At Campetrol we are concerned about the reduction in activity and its impact on the future production and income of the nation, the reduction of quality employment in the regions with almost 20,000 people, both directly and indirectly, roadblocks and the increase of the protests that the family basket and weaken production chains in influential communities. We call for joint work between government, industry and the territory to seek comprehensive and sustainable solutions over time,” said Nelson Castañeda.
