Loan for KPO from the European Union. Reuters: Tusk goes to Brussels to unblock the money

The American press writes that Donald Tusk is going to Brussels to unblock the KPO money. It is a loan from the Reconstruction Fund after the corona pandemic.

According to previous information, Civic Coalition leader Donald Tusk will meet with top EU officials in Brussels this week to restore relations with the European Union and free up frozen funds for Poland, the American Reuters wrote on Tuesday.

Tusk will meet on Wednesday with the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola. A day later he will take part in a meeting of the European People’s Party.

KPO loan

The media recall that the European Commission accepted the Polish KPO in early June 2022, which was a step towards the disbursement of EUR 23.9 billion in grants and EUR 11.5 billion in loans under the Reconstruction Fund, but in the end the money was not paid. .

Warsaw’s dispute with Brussels over this issue lasted many months. Although Warsaw implemented subsequent EC conditions (so-called milestones), loan tranches from the European Union Reconstruction Fund were not released.

Reuters writes that Poland will receive 35.4 billion euros in loans and cohesion funds worth 76.5 billion euros from the EU reconstruction fund.

Representatives of KO, TD and Left announced that if they took power, they would ensure that money from the KPO would be paid to Poland. During the election campaign, Donald Tusk even announced that he would unblock the KPO “the day after the elections”. – I make a solemn promise here in Sopot that the day after the elections I will start releasing the money from the National Reconstruction Plan and that we will all feel it – he said in August.

Tusk is a candidate for prime minister

On Tuesday, Andrzej Duda hosted the representation of the Civic Coalition led by Donald Tusk at the Presidential Palace. Before the meeting, the leaders of KO, TD and NL officially announced that Tusk would be a candidate for premier.
