A lot of bad things have happened in recent years that need to be undone, PO spokesman Jan Grabiec said when asked about Donald Tusk’s trip to Brussels.
According to previous information, Civic Coalition leader Donald Tusk will meet with top EU officials in Brussels this week to restore relations with the European Union and release frozen funds for Poland. The president of the Civic Platform will meet on Wednesday with the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.
Representatives of KO, TD and Left announced that if they took power, they would ensure that money from the KPO would be paid to Poland. During the election campaign, Donald Tusk even announced that he would unblock the KPO “the day after the elections”. – I make a solemn promise here in Sopot that the day after the elections I will start releasing the money from the National Reconstruction Plan and that we will all feel it – he said in August.
Tusk goes to Brussels. Grabiec: He has a plan
– Just as Donald Tusk promised that a moment after the elections, when he will have some influence on the reality in Poland, today he is still not appointed Prime Minister by the President, but we plan to use this time, hence this visit – he commented on TVN 24 Jan Grabiec.
– First of all he will meet Ursula von der Leyen – he emphasized. – This is an important meeting, the head of the European Commission. We know that the form of the FPA, the milestones and the assessment of what is happening in Poland depend on the Commission. We have no intention of violating the Polish Constitution or the EU treaties; we have stated this many times, but our goodwill is not enough in this regard. Because we know that many bad things have happened in recent years, we must undo them, said Jan Grabiec.
– At the same time, make sure that this money appears as quickly as possible. Do not wait a month, two, five, eight for the legislative process to be completed, for all changes to be implemented and implemented, but ensure quick access to EU funds. “I know Donald Tusk has a plan in this matter,” he continued.
Unlock a loan for KPO?
The media recall that the European Commission accepted the Polish KPO in early June 2022, which was a step towards the disbursement of EUR 23.9 billion in grants and EUR 11.5 billion in loans under the Reconstruction Fund, but in the end the money was not paid. .
Warsaw’s dispute with Brussels over this issue lasted many months. Although Warsaw implemented subsequent EC conditions (so-called milestones), loan tranches from the European Union Reconstruction Fund were not released.
The American news agency Reuters, which also writes about Tusk’s trip to Brussels, recalls that 35.4 billion euros in loans and cohesion funds worth 76.5 billion euros from the EU reconstruction fund will go to Poland.
