Air France-KLM posted its best quarter ever last summer. The increased demand for tickets meant that planes were fuller and the company could charge more for the tickets.
In the period from July to September, 1.3 billion euros were earned. Profit increased by almost a third compared to the same period last year. Higher costs for fuel and salaries were more than offset.
Impact of Corona
Air France-KLM is almost back to pre-Corona crisis levels. The number of seats available for sale is currently 94 percent of 2019 capacity. By next year, all effects of the Corona crisis will most likely disappear.
KLM is having more difficulty getting out of the Corona period than its French sister company. KLM increased its capacity by 5 percent and Air France by 7 percent last year. The Dutch branch made a profit of 539 million euros, while Air France made a profit of 806 million euros.
