This weekend we switched again from summer to winter time. Like the residents of 70 other countries, we did it again without any feeling. Changing the time damages health, causes unnecessary chaos and does not benefit the economy. Most Europeans have wanted to abolish it for years, but politicians still can’t find the time to get rid of the bad change.
Where there are two Poles, there are three sentences – says an old Polish proverb. Meanwhile, the belief that changing time is pointless is one of the few issues that has united the vast majority of Poles for years. In fact, in a 2018 CBOS survey, 78.3 percent respondents were in favor of abolishing the time change. Slightly fewer, 74%, said they would like daylight saving time to be introduced permanently in Poland. In 2019, the survey was repeated and… the number in favor of tampering with the clues rose to 79.2%. A survey conducted by IBRiS for Radio Zet in 2022 showed that 77% of people were against changing the time. respondents, including 47.2% when asked whether they were in favor of abolishing the time change. answered “definitely yes,” and 29.8 percent “probably yes.” Less than 14 percent took the opposite view. respondents, with 9.1 percent saying “categorically no”, and 4.8 percent saying “I don’t think so”. Only 9.1% had no opinion about this. respondents.
When it comes to changing time, it’s not just about moods, it’s also about costs. There are many specific, substantive reasons to stop tinkering with time.
