AT&T works to restore service in Guerrero: biggest challenge is Acapulco

AT&T Mexico said it is making every effort to restore connectivity to its customers on the Guerrero coast, which was severely damaged by Hurricane Otis.

AT&T said that as of Friday, October 27, a gradual restoration of service began in some areas of Guerrero.

“I commend the AT&T team that is in the disaster area restoring our infrastructure and helping our customers during these difficult times,” said Monica Aspe, CEO of AT&T Mexico.

“We will not stop until we restore full communication with our clients and help Acapulco in its reconstruction.”

So far, a few of the many affected sites have received LTE service in parts of Acapulco, Arcelia, Ciudad Altamirano, Chilpancingo, Iguala, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Taxco, Tixtla de Guerrero, Tuxpan, Xochipala and Zihuatanejo de Azueta.

The company said other locations are in the process of being restored in the next few hours.

All these days, company employees have been working and continue to direct resources to restore the territory.

AT&T Mexico has acknowledged that the region posing the greatest challenge is Acapulco. This is reported in the message:

All users who have already been able to connect to the activated sites receive a free service as follows: Customers of AT&T’s postpaid commercial offerings with Guerrero numbers have access to unlimited data, calls and messages from Mexico to landline or mobile phone numbers of any company within the national territory. In the case of AT&T Más and Unefon prepaid customers with Guerrero numbers, they have unlimited calls and messages, and megabytes are delivered to ensure communication without the need for a top-up.

AT&T Mexico confirms its intention to continue until full communication is achieved for its customers.
