Foreign direct investment (FDI) received by Mexico from January to September 2023 amounted to 32.926 million dollars, The Ministry of Economy (ME) announced this on Wednesday.

The amount collected was 30% higher than the total number of registrations in the first nine months of 2022, when the receipt of $25.272 million was noted, SE reported.

FDI in the third quarter of the year came from 2,539 Mexican companies with foreign participation and 4,008 trust deeds other than a foreign entity.

76% of these foreign investments correspond to profits not returned to the country of origin; 16% corresponds to loans and payments between corporate group companies, and 8% corresponds to new investments in Mexico.

FDI behavior in the third quarter of 2023 “is a result of foreign investor confidence due to good business environment and economic stability This is the result of the economic and industrial policies pursued by the Mexican government,” SE said in a statement.

For nine months of 2023 The United States remained Mexico’s main trading partner. followed by Spain, Germany, Argentina, Japan, Canada, UK, Netherlands, Netherlands, France and Switzerland.

The Ministry of Economy also reported that 58% of foreign direct investment received during this period was located in 5 states of the country.
