09:22 Dutch director Gazprom resigns due to war in Ukraine

Gazprom Netherlands spokesperson Sytse van Heijst will immediately resign from her position as director of Gazprom Energie Nederland, a spokesperson for Gazprom Netherlands confirmed after other media reports. The CEO said he could not reconcile his work for the Russian gas group with the events in Ukraine.

Gazprom has been active in the Netherlands since 2012 and has mainly professional clients and contracts with municipalities and water boards. Because of the war in Ukraine, these contracts made a lot of noise.

Behind the scenes, there is already discussion about whether governments can stop purchasing gas by canceling contracts with the Dutch branch of the group.

Energy company Shell decided to withdraw completely from Russia earlier this week. This action is worth about 3 billion dollars (2.7 billion euros). A number of banks and pension funds are also ceasing Russian investments and the law firm Houtoff is cutting all ties with Russia, it reported on Thursday.
