Everything indicates that the PiS government wants to submit the seniority pension project to the Sejm before taking power.
“PiS drops another bomb. There will be a project for seniority pensions,” writes “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna”. He points out that this is yet another proposal from the outgoing government that “could cause a lot of confusion.”
Draft amendment to the law on pensions and annuities of the Social Insurance Fund and certain others set implements the government’s commitment of June 7, 2023, when Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki signed an agreement with NSZZ “Solidarność” and the announcement of the possibility of retirement included in the PiS program “Secure Future of Poland”.
The current government wants to adopt the project this quarter. On Monday, Morawiecki presented proposals for the provisions of the Decalogue of Polish Affairs regarding social policy. Among them he mentioned internship pensions.
“MPs of the opposition parties who are assessing the steps of the outgoing government are leaving no stone unturned,” “DGP” emphasizes.
Internship pensions. What does the PiS government’s project presuppose?
The information contained in the list of legislative and programmatic activities of the Council of Ministers shows that the seniority pension, regardless of age, will be payable to persons with a contribution period of at least 38 years for women and 43 years for men.
The designed solution will constitute a right, not an obligation, and the choice will be made by the interested person, taking into account his or her state of health, financial situation and the possibility of continuing his or her professional activity.
According to the authors of the project, the regulations respond to reasonable social expectations on the one hand, and on the other hand take into account the possibilities that the pension system has and will have in the future.
The government proposes to acquire laws to the internship pension depending on its amount, i.e. the benefit is granted on the condition that its amount is not lower than the minimum pension amount.
