In vitro of loads. There is a decision of the Sejm

In a parliamentary vote, parliamentarians decided to adopt the bill on financing the in vitro procedure from the state budget.

On Wednesday, the Sejm voted on the citizens’ bill “amending the law on healthcare services financed by public funds”, i.e. on the in vitro reimbursement.

In vitro of loads

436 MPs took part in the vote. The project was supported by 268 people, 118 were against and 50 abstained.

Previously, all proposed amendments were rejected by the Parliamentary Health Committee.

– This is the first civilian project adopted in this term of the Sejm. I would like to thank the applicants and all Members of Parliament, regardless of their opinion on this issue, for their work on this project, said the President of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, after the announcement of the voting results.

The bill now heads to the Senate and then to the president’s desk.

This vote was not subject to party discipline within the PiS club, where opinions on the issue are divided. 23 MPs from Jarosław Kaczyński’s party voted “in favor”, 102 were “against”, 49 abstained and 17 did not participate in the vote.

At least PLN 500 million per year

Let us recall that, in accordance with the argument, the Minister of Health is obliged to develop, implement, implement and finance a health policy program in the field of infertility treatment, which includes medical procedures for assisted reproduction, including in vitro fertilization.

At least PLN 500 million would be allocated annually from the state budget for this purpose.

The project was in the freezer of the Sejm for a long time and was led there by the then chairman of the Sejm, Elżbieta Witek. Szymon Hołownia’s decision left it “frozen”, like several other social projects submitted over the past eight years.
