Colombia’s economy grew by 8.1% in February 2022

In February 2022, the Indicator for Monitoring the Economy (ISE) registered an annual growth of 8.1% and a variation of 1.6% compared to January this year.

This was reported by National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE)who pointed out that the increase in economic activity is significant compared to February 2021, when they showed an annual decline of 3.2%.

“We record these results with satisfaction, the February indicator shows an acceleration in economic activity and is also much better than the forecasts we had,” said the Minister of FinanceJose Manuel Restrepo.

The economic activities that have contributed most to the growth in February were tertiary (including trade, transportation, accommodation and financial services), contributing 6.4 percentage points of the total and up 8.9% compared to 2021, surpassing the record set in January this year, which reached 8 .3% was %.

The primary activities, which refer to the agriculture and miningrose 0.9% compared to the same month in 2021, contributing 0.1 percentage point to the year-over-year variation of the ISE.

Ancillary activities, such as: manufacturing and construction sectorgrew by 10.1% compared to the same period in 2021.
