A world record for scandals was broken in Poland today – this is how Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki assessed the changes to the wind farm law proposed by the new majority parliamentarians.
The group of MPs Polska 2050-TD and KO has submitted to the Sejm a draft amendment to the Law on Support of Energy Consumers, which proposes, among other things: restoring the stock exchange obligation, as well as liberalizing the rules for the construction of wind farms on land. PiS politicians criticize the project, pointing out that it could lead to the expropriation of people for wind farms.
Morawiecki writes about the wind turbine scandal. ‘Poland will lose, lobbyists will benefit’
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki commented on the issue on social media. “There had to be popcorn and there is! Only lobbyists eat it! A world record was broken in Poland today! However, this time there is nothing to be happy about, because it is a world record in scandals!” – the head of government wrote on the X website (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
He emphasized that “without consultation, without analyses, without preparation, politicians from PO and Polska2050 want to install large turbines next to the houses of Poles. Who will lose? Poland! Who will benefit? Lobbyists!” – said Morawiecki. He added that “the windmill scandal broke before they tried to form a government.”
Parliamentary project: windmills closer to houses and Orlen
Currently in effect recipes stipulate that the minimum distance between wind turbines and buildings must be 700 meters, and not 10 times the maximum height of the turbine as before, the so-called rule 10H.
In their bill, members of the new parliamentary majority propose to reduce the required distances to residential buildings to 300 meters for multi-family homes and 400 meters for single-family homes.
The KO and Poland 2050-TD project also assumes a price freeze currentgas and heat for households and sensitive entities until the end of June 2024. According to the Wysokie Voltage portal, the entire operation is to be financed by Orlen.
