Polish MP 2050: Of course there is no wind turbine scandal

It would be a scandal if, like PiS, we were to pass a bill overnight, says Michał Kobosko when asked about the wind turbine controversy.

Representatives of the Civic Coalition, PSL and Poland 2050 deny reports that the draft law regulating energy prices includes the possibility of expropriation of wind farms.

Since yesterday, the case has been widely commented on both social media and the media. The planned regulations surrounding wind turbines quickly attracted the attention of journalists. The Polish MP for 2050 and vice-chairman of this group, Michał Kobosko, recalls that the main purpose of the law is to freeze energy prices, and in the context of wind farms he states that we are not dealing with a scandal.

Kobosko: There is no scandal

– There is of course no question of a windmill scandal. I don’t know what this scandal is supposed to be about. It would be a scandal if, like PiS, we were to pass and implement a law overnight, and if Poles found themselves in a new reality today. This is not the case; primarily a project was presented to freeze energy prices. This is the most important thing (…). The government of Mateusz Morawiecki, which is still in power in Poland, has not addressed this – Kobosko said in an interview in “Trójka’s Political Salon” PR3.

The parliamentarian believed that the issue of wind farms was blocked under the PiS government, and now, after eight years, the process of building these types of power plants should be unblocked. – The editor asks if it should be done this way. I will say this: the issue is debatable, I understand that. This issue requires consultation with the social side. Of course, it is impossible – and that is why the Prime Minister, as I understand it, began to threaten – that people here will be expropriated in no time – Kobosko added.

He added that the project will be the subject of further work and will be detailed. – I am convinced that there will be changes in this project – he noted. – Calling it the “windmill scandal” is pure PiS propaganda – he continued. the politician denied that the scheme in question was the result of the work of lobbyists.

Windmills. Controversies surrounding the bill

The whole confusion broke out on Tuesday after a group of MPs from the Civic Coalition and Poland 2050, represented by KO MP Krzysztof Gadowski, submitted to the Speaker of the Sejm a parliamentary bill amending laws supporting consumers of electricity, gas and warmth. certain other actions.

The project quickly caused major controversy, including: because it involves facilitating the construction of wind turbine installations, the operation of which is burdensome for local residents and also has negative consequences for nature. The Basta Foundation was one of the first to write about the case.

The Foundation writes, among other things, that “the project is based on changes to the Real Estate Management Act, which will allow the expropriation of private individuals with a view to the construction of wind farms and other investments in renewable energy, because after the entry into force of The project’s construction investments in renewable energy will be a public purpose.”
