Budget for 2024. Tusk maintained record spending on the Prime Minister’s Chancellery

The new cabinet presented the draft budget for 2024. Expenditure for the Prime Minister’s Chancellery remained at record levels.

The Sejm is working on next year’s budget law. The document was drafted by Donald Tusk’s cabinet, but is largely based on assumptions made by Mateusz Morawiecki’s government.

Revenues are planned at PLN 682 billion, and expenditure at PLN 866 billion. The budget gap will therefore amount to PLN 184 billion. The project maintains funds for social programs: 800 plus, 13th and 14th pension. In addition, money was allocated for the “Active Parent” program announced by Donald Tusk and for pay increases for teachers and the public sector.

Interestingly, despite previous announcements, Tusk’s government has not decided to liquidate the Church Fund. Moreover, he will receive record money next year.

Huge expenditure for the Prime Minister’s Chancellery

The new Finance Minister, Andrzej Domański, has also not decided to cut the amount of more than PLN 2 billion that Morawiecki had planned for services to the Prime Minister’s Chancellery. Of these funds, PLN 1,335 million should be allocated to the activities of the Government Agency of Strategic Reserves. About. PLN 300 million will be spent on maintaining institutions under the Prime Minister’s Chancellery that were established under the previous government.

Being in the opposition, PO and PSL politicians sharply criticized Mateusz Morawiecki for the huge costs spent on maintaining his office. At the end of 2021, it employed 1,331 people, including 116 directors and their deputies, and 45 organizational units had been established. Compared to 2015, this is twice as many staff.

As Marek Sawicki of the Polish People’s Party announced, the new government will make significant cuts to government services and the functioning of many institutions.

– All this will be liquidated and put in order by the new government, and expenditure on the Prime Minister’s office will be adjusted to real values next year – the politician said in an interview with money.pl. Sawicki added that Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki had created his “own country management center” in the Prime Minister’s Chancellery. The new head of government had to eliminate this informal structure.
