Changes in CPK. Tusk appointed his representative

Maciej Lasek, Deputy Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, became Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s representative for the CPK.

– CPK is part of the administrative department “development policy”, it falls under the ministry, Secretary Maciej Lasek covers this area with his powers, and is also the Prime Minister’s plenipotentiary for CPK – said Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, Minister of Funds and Regional Development. Policy, during a press conference.

On December 19, the ministry announced that the Prime Minister, at the request of the Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, had appointed Maciej Lasek, Jacek Protas and Jan Szyszko as Secretaries of State at the Ministry of FiPR.

In his statement, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that the future of the CPK would be decided in a transparent manner, with the participation of independent experts, and that the project itself would benefit Poland.

The future of CPK. What is Maciej Lasek’s position?

Maciej Lasek said in a radio interview a few days ago that the CPK project “must be made more realistic” and subjected to an in-depth analysis. He stated that he did not believe in the planned launch date of the CPK, which is 2028. In his opinion, “2032 or perhaps 2035” is more likely.

– If we want to build the CPK, let’s do it based on sustainable thinking. Do we need more highways? If we build these roads and build a railway along them at the same time, where will people change? To the rail or to the road? There are many of these problems and that is why we want to do a serious analysis first. I think it will take a few months. It’s not long now, he argued.

– Let’s imagine that we have one central airport – at the moment I have not decided if and when the airport will be built – which will replace it, but on a reasonable basis and on reasonable conditions. We have Chopin (airport), which we can make more use of without losses for the residents of the area, and at the same time we have excellent transport connections, we explained Modlin – Lasek on Radio Zet.

The Central Communication Port is not just any airport

The Central Communication Port is a transfer hub between Warsaw and Łódź that will integrate air, rail and road transport. As part of this project, a new airport will be built 37 km west of Warsaw, in an area of approximately 3,000 inhabitants hectares, which in the first phase will be able to serve 40 million passengers per year.

The CPK also includes railway investments: a junction in the immediate vicinity of the airport and connections throughout the country, allowing travel between Warsaw and the largest Polish cities in no longer than 2.5 hours.

CPK is 100 percent owned by the Ministry of Finance. It is considered a strategic company from the point of view of the country’s interests.
