Surprise: An immigrant bricklayer works at Defense Minister Guido Crosetto’s new home in Rome. The minister posted the worker’s photo on his page on page X (image above) and made a comment in response to an inquiry. Real (photo below). But this is not what interests us at the moment: what we ultimately need to realize is the normality of the presence in our country of people, students and workers (8.6 percent of the total population), whose roles are now indispensable, even in need of renewal. Home of the Minister of Defense. A sensitive target that, if procedure is followed, must guarantee the confidentiality required by the security clearance of those working there.
We do not know the worker’s name, origin or type of residence permit. But even if he is not a foreigner and has Italian citizenship, it is much better: because this shows that to be an Italian and European citizen today you do not necessarily have to have the pink skin or blonde of minister Matteo Salvini. The far-right comrades had their heads shaved and were summoned to Florence on 3 December by the vice-president of the Council.
Elon Musk and rented wombs
But not everyone in government thinks the same way. For months, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, ministers Salvini and Francesco Lollobrigida, and now even American entrepreneur Elon Musk have rightly been sounding the alarm that Italianness and Italian culture are in danger of extinction. But the government proposes natural reproduction as the only solution: having more children the biblical way, according to traditional family rules; This is a very rare occurrence, even among prime ministers and ministers. That is, waiting nine months and then at least twenty years to get to know each other, marry each other, love each other, for the new Italians to become men, women, adults, workers, entrepreneurs, citizens. Even the genius of Musk, who has eleven children, not all of whom were born according to the Bible’s advice, failed to shorten the gestation and growth periods: when it comes to wombs for rent, Elon is actually the richest in the world. The world is among tenants.
”The basis of the progress of human civilization is to have people. As simple and trivial as it sounds, I look at the birth rate every year and it is depressing. Because births are decreasing every year – Musk recalled while sitting on the stage of the Fratelli d’Italia party in Rome in front of the slogan ‘Welcome back to Italian pride’. I think my most important suggestion to government leaders and people in general is that we have enough children to create a new generation… I believe that you cannot be dependent on other countries through immigration. The required numbers are not enough [rispondere con] migration. We do not want Japan, Italy or France to disappear. “I think we need to maintain some kind of reasonable cultural identity, or these countries will never be the same again.”
2042, the year of the Italian disaster
A dramatic observation, but consistent with the facts: Due to the current demographic crisis (a decline in births and a growing elderly population), Italy is heading for an economic disaster of minus 18 percent of gross domestic product if it does not reverse this trend. In 2042 (Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said this in May 2023). The collapse of Italian wealth will not happen suddenly. We’re already seeing this today with staff shortages, and it will accelerate after 2030 if we don’t take action. But even if we all start having children today, they will be born nine months later, in the symbolic year of 2042. They would have been only 18 years old after the disaster. According to today’s school and university curricula, they would not actually be educated workers yet. What to do then?
If breeding were the only solution, the contractor renovating Minister Crosetto’s new home would have to slow down the work (photo above) and wait until a thoroughbred Italian was old enough to be hired. But so would thousands of entrepreneurs desperately searching for staff to avoid losing their contracts and keep their businesses going. The Meloni government had predicted that 274,800 workers would be needed in Italy by 2023. However, only 136,000 planned entry permits were issued from abroad. What about the 138,800 missing workers?
There are three answers companies can use: Look at income earners of former citizens (but an unemployed person aged 58-60 with no particular experience is certainly not ideal for working on a construction site or factory); closure of the business or transfer abroad; Illegal employment of workers, employment of subcontractors among those entering illegal lands. Again, according to the data published by the Meloni government, 381 thousand jobs will be out of guarantee in Italy in the three-year period between 2023-2025. The illegal work created by this need is attracted to the trafficking of men and women that we have seen coming from Africa for two decades.
Cholesterol obtained from shellfish and verzini
So what to do while waiting for the children Meloni and Salvini have summoned to be born? Among other things, even they don’t seem to agree much with the biblical common cause. Elon Musk calls on governments to “preserve some kind of reasonable cultural identity.” But is cultural identity really something so inert that it cannot change? So what is Italian cultural identity? Trapani-style couscous, Tyrolean dumplings, tarantas or ballroom dancing? So how is this ”reasonable” measured? If we limit ourselves to births, Italy today is already doomed to disaster. Much like the North would be after World War II. Perhaps we would not have the wealth produced by the economic miracle without the migration from the South to preserve the culture of Milanese chops and Piedmontese bagna càuda. And today Milan would be a cholesterol-ridden suburban town with dishes based on pork rinds and verzini.
Therefore, the solution is to manage economic and demographic phenomena. Governing: without slogans or old nationalist ideologies of the twentieth century. But if we continue to claim that 2042 is far away, the Italians will win: So only the elderly Italian population will remain, and everyone else, including entrepreneurs, immigrants and our children, will go and build a future abroad. Thank you Minister Crosetto for the normality with which you published this photo. Also because no one noticed the funny paradox. To confirm Italian welcome-back pride, the Government Brothers invited an African witness to their party: Elon Musk was actually born in Pretoria, South Africa. But luckily he emigrated not to Italy but to the United States.
