Confederation MP Grzegorz Płaczek said he had received information from ZUS about subsidies from Polish taxpayers on Ukrainians’ pensions.
“I have information for Poland, »independent journalists and verifiers« and for politicians who threw mud at me when I said (along with MP Krzysztof Bosak) that Ukrainians receive subsidies for the lowest pensions in Poland. Fighting for the truth… gritted my teeth and asked SISTER for official data,” we read on the MP’s X.
It turns out that the politician has just received the answer. He claims it shows that despite the media campaign, the Confederacy has paid attention to the real problem. Płaczek added the signature of the letter.
“As a Member of Parliament of the Confederation I officially inform you that… THE AMOUNT OF SUBSIDIES for the lowest pension of the Polish Social Insurance Fund for Ukrainian citizens in 2022 alone was: PLN 8.6 million” – He wrote.
Confederate intervention
Confederation MPs have raised this issue many times. In May, Płaczek and Bosak carried out an intervention at the Ministry of Family and Social Policy.
– Let us not forget that the Civic Platform government concluded an agreement between the Polish state and the Ukrainian state on the possibility of paying pensions to citizens if they work in a particular country. Under these regulations, a person who has acquired work experience and is registered as an employee in Poland for at least one day or one week acquires the legal right to a minimum pension, provided that he or she completes the work experience necessary to pay wages. the pension – Bosak said then.
The Chairman of the National Movement said that the difference between the minimum pension in Poland and the minimum pension in Ukraine is huge. – The difference is more than PLN 1,000 per person per month. If the disturbing information is confirmed, it will mean that Polish taxpayers will have to pay the difference out of their own pockets.
The Confederation has therefore submitted several questions in this regard to the Ministry of Family and Social Policy and expects a specific legal basis in response. – The question is: work experience in which country and how is residence in Poland verified? Because we already know that Polish state institutions have failed to verify residence in Poland when paying other benefits. We have already heard press reports that the recovery of fraudulent benefits is not making any progress at all because there are no instruments for this, says Bosak.
Płaczek: A ZUS employee confirmed this statement
Płaczek tried to verify media reports on this topic. As he indicated, he had a telephone conversation with the official. He reported that in April 2023, information appeared in the public space that a pensioner from Ukraine who is entitled to a pension can become entitled to the minimum Polish pension after one day in Poland or after one month. That’s why he contacted a ZUS employee. During a 20-minute conversation, a ZUS employee “confirmed this statement”.
He added that he had also sent an official letter to the Social Insurance Institution. – I have received information from ZUS that I cannot receive an answer to my citizen inquiry due to the fact that “I would like to kindly explain that the information you request does not concern public information within the meaning of the provisions of the law.” he said.
– We ask a very specific question (…) whether a woman with 30 years of work experience, a legal retiree, who, now retired, has decided to come to Poland, lives in Poland and at the same time receives the minimum Ukrainian rights pension, or perhaps after one day of work under a commission contract or after one month of work under an employment contract, be entitled to the minimum Polish pension? – said Płaczek during the press conference.
– If it turns out to be true, we will demand a change to these rules. It can’t be like that. This will be a testimony to the common legacy of absolutely harmful policies of both the Platform and PiS, because the Platform made this agreement, then ruled with this unfavorable agreement for many years, then PiS did not change anything for eight years, and now it is lying. If it turns out that this is what Grzegorz Płaczek reads here, it follows from our research and from the opinions of Ukrainian citizens themselves who spread this information among themselves – said Krzysztof Bosak.
