Gas prices are falling for users of the protected market. This was reported by Arera, which reported a 6.7% reduction in the December bill for the typical sheltered family compared to the previous month.
According to the institution, the price change is entirely due to the decrease in natural gas expenditures. However, general charges and the tariff based on transport and measurement costs remain unchanged. Arera also reported that the average expenditure per family in 2023 (excluding taxes) is approximately 1,307 euros, a decrease of 29.9% compared to the same 12 months of the previous year.
The news that Arera conveyed today is the latest update for domestic customers who have not yet chosen the free market. In fact, the end of the protected gas market begins on January 10, 20234, while for electricity the end date has been postponed to July 1 (all information here). He explains that in the future, the gas price component will be updated monthly, with the same criteria, times and methods used so far, to cover supply costs imposed on customers of the Vulnerability Protection Service, which is active for approximately 2.5 million families. .
