The new year brings with it important news regarding discounts on electricity, water and natural gas bills. Until 31 December 2023, it was actually possible to benefit from the increased social bonus, which meets the ISEE threshold of up to 15,000 euros, or up to 30 thousand euros if there are at least four dependent children. But from January 1, we returned to the usual social bonus, which required a sharp reduction in the number of beneficiaries.
Who is entitled to the regular social bonus?
The ordinary social bonus is a form of aid for low-income households that has been in force for years and has only been strengthened for 2023 thanks to the “anti-inflation pact” that expires at the end of the year. The usual bonus on natural gas and water bills is given to those whose ISEE does not exceed 9 thousand 530 euros, but this amount goes up to 20 thousand euros if there are at least four dependent children.
However, the ISEE threshold for electricity remains at 15 thousand euros in 2024; For families with more than three dependent children, this figure is 30 thousand euros. However, this is only valid for the first quarter of 2024; As of March 31, the bonus increase in the electricity bill will also stop.
Those who meet the income requirement do not need to make any request to receive assistance; They will simply need to renew the ISEE by 2024 by submitting a new single replacement statement (DSU).
