A former minister in the PiS government has a new job. It will go to Brussels

Former Finance Minister in the PiS government, Magdalena Rzeczkowska, will head the Federation of Polish Entrepreneurs (FPP) office in Brussels.

The information from the Business Insider Polska portal was confirmed by FPP Vice President Arkadiusz Pączka, who informed that Rzeczkowska will become head of the organization’s office from February 1 this year. – We want to use her good contacts in the structures of the European Union – he said.

FPP opened an office in Brussels in March last year. It was led by economic and tax expert Mariusz Korzeb.

What will the former PiS finance minister do?

Business Insider Polska’s findings show that one of the first and most important tasks the former minister could be involved in in Brussels will be the EU Blue Deal.

“This is a program that should have a value of EUR 390 billion. So far, the EU has focused on the so-called Green Deal, which focused on air cleanliness. The new initiative should focus on the treatment, purification and retention of water in the environment. Financing for the projects must be obtained, among other things, through the so-called blue bonds,” we read in the article.

FPP is already active on this issue and wants to convince EU officials to ensure that the largest possible flow of euros from the EU Blue Deal flows to Poland. Now the former head of the Ministry of Finance will take over in the fight for the interests of Polish companies, the portal emphasizes.

Magdalena Rzeczkowska – professional career

Magdalena Rzeczkowska has headed the Ministry of Finance since April 2022. She left office after PiS lost the elections. Then she decided not to join the two-week government, which was not supported by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Rzeczkowska has been associated with the Ministry of Finance for almost her entire professional career. She worked at Central Customs for four years. She later joined the Ministry of Finance, where she became director of customs. In 2020 she became head of the National Tax Authorities.
