Poland flooded with food from Ukraine. Tension among MPs at the start of the session

MP Jarosław Sachajko wants faster processing in the Sejm of regulations that would protect the Polish market from agricultural products of Ukrainian interest.

The first day of the fourth session of the Sejm started with a formal motion submitted by the 15th MP of Kukuz, Jarosław Sachajka. Stefan Krajewski, State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, has submitted a counter request.

Food and agriculture. Flooding the Polish market with products from Ukraine

Sachajko addressed the topic of farmers’ protests. – Yesterday they protested in more than 200 places against the destructive policies of the European Union and the European Parliament. Deputy Minister Krajewski admitted that the deposit law, which was supposed to protect Polish agriculture, was a legal mess and I would prefer a ministerial solution. Time is running out, Poland is flooded with Ukrainian food and there is no law, said Sachajko, calling for consideration of other projects in this area, including: by Kukiz’15 and PiS.

Sachajko emphasized that one of the projects concerns securing Poland from the flow of food from Ukraine. That is why he wanted to expand the agenda with information from the Chairman of the Sejm when the bills would be processed.

Hołownia assured that he would check the status of agricultural projects.

Krajewski: We are preparing solutions

A little later, Stefan Krajewski appeared on stage. The PSL politician turned to Sachajka.

– We must undo all the projects that you submitted in the previous parliamentary term at the ministries today. Because you screwed up a lot with these projects and corrections you made. Today, in consultation with the Ukrainian side and with the European Commission, we will prepare solutions that will be much better. But that will be done in consultation, and not as you have adopted unilateral embargoes, which could soon trigger infringement proceedings, he said.

The proposal to suspend and supplement the agenda was rejected by the Sejm majority.
