Export licenses for Ukrainian goods? ‘We are in discussions with Poland’

We are in discussions with Poland about export licenses for Ukrainian goods, said Taras Vysotsky, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Ukraine.

On Thursday, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Czesław Siekierski, said that talks are being held with both the Government of Ukraine and the European Commission on the introduction of certain instruments that would limit excessive imports of Ukrainian goods into European markets, including Poland . . The idea is to set import quotas for certain goods. – The European Commission has given the green light for the introduction of a permit system. These licenses will be granted by the Ukrainian authorities for specific export volumes to specific countries and to specific recipients. The export volume would be controlled by these countries, Minister Siekierski explained.

– We are talking to Poland about export permits. At the technical level, correspondence on this issue has already begun, said Taras Vysotsky, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Ukraine, quoted by Ukrinform news agency. – Kiev already has positive experiences with the use of this mechanism on the Romanian and Bulgarian sides. And through dialogue it will be possible to find common positive points for both sides, Poland and Ukraine. This is still better than a ban and no dialogue, he added.

Poland flooded with food from Ukraine

Protests were held across the country on Wednesday by farmers opposing the introduction of the EU Green Deal and the uncontrolled inflow of goods from Ukraine.

– Farmers respond rationally. Anyone who wants to save Europe, its culture and traditions must support the farmers. They don’t just fight for their specific interests. They fight for the interests of society. On the one hand, farmers are thanked, politicians are full of statements, also on the occasion of the harvest festival, and on the other hand, policies are being pursued that are aimed at destroying these farmers. Farmers in Poland and practically all over Europe are taking the matter further – said Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, PiS MP, in an interview with the DoRzeczy.pl portal. – Since the threat emanates from the European Union’s plans, which are identical to Ukraine’s demands for full opening to food from Ukraine (…), such a sick policy must be prevented from being implemented, he added to.
