The company intends to drill a well at a depth of 8300 meterss, anticipating the possible existence of a superfield in the area.
“With new seismic data we are collecting, it is believed that targets deeper than the original field there are very good opportunities, Therefore, a test well will be drilled,” said Pemex CEO Octavio Romero Oropeza.

“We are going to a deeper target; the well is planned to be drilled at 8 thousand 300 meters, we go three thousand meters deeper from which we estimate that prospective resources could be 148 million barrels of oil equivalent,” he explained.
Drilling time was significantly reduced compared to previous administrations, with fields averaging 98 days, down from 122 days previously. in the depth range from 7500 to 8100 meters.
Romero Oropesa emphasized the importance of this project, comparing it with other early developments such as Ixachi and Tupilco. where the superfields were below the original fields.
“This is the concept that Sitio Grande is looking for; the deposit is below 8 thousand meters and, like in other early projects, we have the infrastructure very close, so we could develop very quickly according to the logic of early production,” he emphasized.
