“Pure fraud.” Not everyone received the extra money promised by the government

From July 1, employees of social assistance, foster care and care for children under three years old would receive a special allowance of PLN 1,000. It turns out that extra money is not for everyone.

On May 16, President Andrzej Duda signed an amendment to the Social Assistance Act, introducing a program to subsidize the salaries of social assistance workers, the foster care system and institutions caring for children up to 3 years old, but it turns out that not all workers were covered. Some of them directly speak of fraud.

According to “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna”, the guidelines of the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy introduced a requirement to check what percentage of the tasks performed by a given employee are related to social assistance activities. Interestingly, the government project on wage subsidies does not even mention such a system. This discrepancy led to chaos in the regulations and to the exclusion of some employees who should have received additional money but did not.

“The chaos surrounding the additional PLN 1,000 per month for social workers is growing. Contrary to the government’s original promises, some workers will not receive the allowance. This is a scandalous injustice and simple fraud!” – said the Trade Union Alternative in its social media post.

What was the action about?

The purpose of the law was to enable the introduction of government programs to subsidize the salaries and costs of contributions to these salaries of specific employees working in organizational units of social assistance, as well as specific employees of foster care and family support systems and institutions for the care of children up to 3 years of age run by local governments.

According to the regulations, it will be possible to establish programs that co-finance the remuneration of employees of local government units and finance the costs of remuneration contributions in this regard.
