In the first half of 2024, Enel’s “emissions-free” electricity production will reach a record level of 84%. This is according to the Quarterly Bulletin containing the Group’s operational data for the first half of 2024. In Italy, renewable production increased by 26% compared to the first half of last year, reaching 75% of the Group’s total production in the country. This year, Enel’s decarbonisation path accelerates decisively and in line with the objectives of the 2024-2026 Strategic Plan.
In particular, the Quarterly Bulletin shows that, at a global level, “emission-free” electricity production reached a record level of 84%, with a significant decrease in production from thermal sources (-30%). Total renewable capacity at Group level, consolidated and managed, reached approximately 64 GW, compared to 58 GW in the same period in 2023, on a comparable basis, with an increase in renewable production of approximately 17%.
In Italy, electricity production from renewable sources increased by 26% compared to the first half of last year, reaching 75% of the Group’s total production in the country, while production from thermal sources fell by 59%. In Spain, renewable production increased by 36% compared to the first half of last year, while electricity production from thermal sources fell by around 11%.
The Report, published before approval by Enel’s Board of Directors and the disclosure of the economic and financial data contained in the periodic accounting documents, aims to further strengthen the Group’s transparency towards the financial community, in line with the best practices of the most advanced markets.
