Diesel hits lowest point in year, petrol also falls

The price of self-green gasoline continues to fall, reaching its lowest level since January 30, confirming the downward trend that has continued since mid-July: the price per liter has fallen to 1,811 euros, while self-service diesel, which is still traded, has reached its lowest level since July 6, 2023, at 1,686 euros per liter (it was 1,714 euros before the summer break). This is what emerges from an analysis carried out by Staffetta Quotidiana, based on data transmitted by the administrators to the Mimit Price Observatory at 8 a.m. on August 25.

“Service” also drops, LPG and methane are stable

Meanwhile, the average price for gasoline is €1,958 per liter, compared to €1,980 in the previous survey on August 9. For diesel, the average service stop per liter is €1,833, compared to €1,860 before the summer break. The decline could be due to the risk of a recession in the US, which would lead to lower demand for oil. This is causing a drop in the price of black gold on financial markets: crude oil fell to its lowest levels in eight months in early August, pushing fuel prices down.

Again, according to the survey, the prices charged by companies for gasoline will fluctuate between 1,798 and 1,826 euros per litre, with an average price of 1,804 “without a logo”, while for diesel, the various brands will fluctuate between 1,673 and 1,700 euros per litre, with “without a logo” at 1,680. The average prices charged for LPG are fixed, ranging from 0.721 to 0.745 euros per litre (0.706 without a logo), while methane prices for cars range from 1,328 to 1,402 euros per kg (1,340 without a logo).
