On Monday, the cabinet will discuss a draft amendment to the Special Solutions Act to alleviate the consequences of flooding.
Government support for flood victims
The head of the Prime Minister’s Office, Jan Grabiec, spoke on TVP Info about the main solutions that will be included in the project. – The Bank Guarantee Fund will pay installments for housing loans for flood victims, simplify support for renovation and renovation of apartments, and help for entrepreneurs – he said.
He added that data is still being collected on flood losses in the south and west of the country, but so far it is estimated at around 20,000 residential buildings have been flooded.
When asked how much money there is for reconstruction, he explained that the 2 billion PLN mentioned by Finance Minister Andrzej Domański is not money for reconstruction. – This is money for the first weeks. These are funds for 100 or 200 thousand. PLN (for house renovation – ed.). They protect us for weeks and that was their goal, said the head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

He admitted that further changes to the budget were needed and that every ministry was working on allocating additional money. – Every ministry has already found these funds, because everyone is working on the flood. There are funds for the reconstruction of schools and sports schools, he assured.
As he added, “if it turns out that the losses amount to 30-40 billion, this money will be found.” Grabiec also announced that there would be money for the construction of new flood protection facilities.
State of natural disaster, seven dead
Earlier the government introduced state of natural disaster in parts of the Lower Silesian, Opole and Silesian voivodeships. Police have so far confirmed seven deaths from flooding.
Cities such as Kłodzko, Lądek-Zdrój, Stronie Śląskie, Głuchołazy, Prudnik, Nysa, Bystrzyca Kłodzka, Szprotawa and Lewin Brzeski were particularly affected. The latter was 90 percent flooded. Many villages near flooded rivers were damaged to a greater or lesser extent.
