Their job is to know how to channel adrenaline into discipline. They explain that there is no recklessness, there is preparation and perseverance. Edoardo Schiaratura tells about the last project he participated in. A new video of Ghali, Paprika: “I fell on a glass table, broke the table with my back. Then they turned me over and set me on fire. From my heels to my head.” In the latest images, a lighter spinning in the air can be seen landing on the shoulders of a man lying on the ground. This is it. He replaced the rapper, who was recently the victim of a shooting.
A scene, of course, but the flames are real: Edoardo remained above the fire for several seconds. In another video called Koç’s Sea of Problems, a girl is seen running very fast and then falling. From a hill, from stairs, from snow, from a building. In the second case, he hits the windshield of a car with his back and breaks it into a thousand pieces. Then he remains there, motionless, between the glass. She is Lucrezia Mariutto, she is 24 years old and has been performing stunts since she was an adult. In the trailer for Tananai’s new album Calmocobra, two fighters hit each other with the traditional Japanese sword katana. One of the two is Antonio Palladino, who is in his early twenties.
Schiaratura, Mariutto and Palladino trained and still train at the stunt academy Stunt Gym Boutique in Via Tertulliano. Founded by Simone Belli in 2018, the school teaches 21 disciplines. Students specialize in tumbling, fighting, motocross stunts and parkour. For example, Schiaratura is interested in acrobatic disciplines: trikking – includes elements of breakdancing and combat kicks – air rem, a platform that launches the show upwards to simulate an explosion, parkour, free running, etc. Mariutto, on the other hand, specializes in stage fights as well as scenes involving falls from heights and flames: “Catching fire is my favorite discipline,” he explains. Out of all of them, he has the most years left in his career. He started at a very young age. “Women are few and in great demand.” Palladino has played many sports in the past and has developed a variety of skills throughout his fledgling career as a stuntman that will still benefit him now.
Our job is not actually to do sets, but to train. The hardest thing is to train for at least four hours every day. Shooting a movie or video is the reward of our perseverance
