2 Hospitals ask infected staff to work because of corona wave carnival

Hospitals in Brabant will ask employees with corona infections at home to come to work. That is what Bart Berden, head of the Regional Advisory Council Acute Care Noord-Brabant. Brabant Publishers† This is to avoid compromising and reducing acute care and emergency services.

Due to the corona infection, staff do not have to come to work at home. In addition, employees only have to work in departments where there is absolutely no other option, such as intensive care and emergency care.

In some hospital departments in Brabant, absenteeism due to illness could rise to 20%. As a result, care was reduced in the Jeroen Bosch Hospital in Den Bosch, among others, while the Elisabeth-TweeSteden Hospital in Tilburg was forced to close an operating room this weekend.

“It’s dramatic for people whose surgeries have been canceled,” Berden said. The number of corona patients in hospitals in Brabant has finally reached such a level that we can restore almost all regular care. We don’t want to eat a bite anymore,” says Berden. He added that the Health and Youth Care Inspectorate (IGJ) has been informed of the decision.

In order not to compromise patient safety, Berden says, infected workers will wear Type IIR surgical face masks, which have higher than normal so-called bacterial filtering efficiency.
