Fenalco will promote the fashion and beauty system in Barranquilla with two trade shows

After almost seven years of suspending its implementation, the National Federation of Merchants (Fenalco) Atlantic branch organizes the Expohogar and Expobelleza y Bienestar fairs as a mechanism to promote the growth of these sectors.

The union director, Yilda Castro, pointed out that these exchanges integrate various economic activities in Barranquilla and the Atlantic in order to consolidate a supply of buyers.

“These spaces help to continue to position the department as an event and corporate tourism destination,” he said.

He stressed that the stock markets are also generators of both direct and indirect and temporary jobs. “Entrepreneurs in the orange economy were affected during the pandemic and they are the providers of these events, we are trying to support local businesses,” he added.

The textile and clothing sector saw a turnover decline of more than 60% due to the pandemic and last year there was a growth of 21% compared to 2020 and 5% compared to 2019.

Large, medium and small local fashion, beauty, decoration, furniture and other companies will participate in the fairs.

The program includes additional activities such as talks, conferences, exhibitions and catwalks with renowned designers.

About this fair, Barranquilla’s designer assured Amalín de Hazbún that “we needed these kinds of events because in the city we were used to doing them often.”

For her part, the mayor of Usuacurí, Katherine Pasos, said that the artisans of this municipality will be linked to the fairs with their products made from Iraca palm.

The Expohogar fair will be held from 15 to 17 June and Expobelleza y Bienestar from 9 to 11 September, both in the Jumbo Hall of the Country Club.

As part of these fairs, the Azahares Prizes are awarded to entrepreneurs in design, craft and other arts, and the Golden Needle, in honor of Amalín de Hazbún, for the creative talent of fashion designers.
