Barranquilla has become a center of goods and services of the mining industry assured the chairman of the Colombian Mining Association (ACM), Juan Camilo Nariño.
“The Caribbean coast is the mining center most important thing that the country has and within it, barranquilla it’s the most important thing,” he assured in an interview with EL HERALDO.
He stressed that in Barranquilla there are many companies that provide goods and services for the sector, generating jobs and economic growth.
In 2020 alone, mining operations on the Caribbean coast represented $4.4 billion.
The mining sector generates more than 1 million jobs in the country, both directly and indirectly, and although it weighs 2% of the Colombian economy, it contributes nearly $4 billion through royalties and revenue.
Among these means, Caribbean Coast It contributes about 80% of royalties, 68% of mining revenues and 59% of mining exports.
