PostNL will release a crypto stamp for the first time this fall. The postal company hopes this will appeal to a new generation of collectors. Collecting stamps was once a favorite pastime of many people. PostNL is trying to breathe new life into this with the launch of an NFT.
The so-called NL crypto stamp consists of a real stamp and a digital piece that you can stick on something. “This digital version is made visible by scanning the QR code on the physical stamp,” the company explains.
You can then activate, collect, trade and trade them via the blockchain, a kind of digital database. The digital version of the stamp is called an unchangeable token (NFT).
The NL crypto stamp will cost 9.05 euros. PostNL does not yet say when, where or in which edition. The company is also discreet when it comes to design.
The stamp is the result of a collaboration with the Austrian Post, which already issued a crypto stamp in 2019.
