The increase in the number of people knocking on the door of humanitarian organizations increases the pressure on the accident even further. They manage to survive, but there is a threat of famine, says Irene Verspeek of the Poverty Fund. Especially for children, food, hygiene products and clothing in certain sizes are gradually decreasing.
“We hope to receive more government support in the near future, so that humanitarian organizations can do their job properly,” said Verspeek. “This is important so that people can continue to participate,” he says. He also thinks that donations to humanitarian organizations ensure that people receive permanent help.
Verspeek: “But also look in your environment to see if you can help people with money worries. Or start a conversation to see if you can help with something.”
