AgTech: Why customer experience is the key

With the growth of digital agriculture applications and solutions, it is essential to facilitate information processing.

Today, The producer or agronomist devotes about 30 percent of his time to what he is really passionate about, which is the agronomic analysis of his field..

Tax, accounting, and logistics issues take up a large portion of their working hours, and while there are many applications designed to simplify processes, the vast amount of data they provide is often not very collaborative to make analysis and learning more efficient. The time limit available for industry professionals makes agro applications more user-friendly and intuitive.

Digitization is the next big step in agriculture, the ability to use a large database of what is happening or has happened in each area of the field or lot will lead to a new crop level, to achieve more focused and sustainable production. The time available for information analysis and innovation is limited, and we as manufacturers tend to repeat what works and change what does not.

Unlike in the past when our grandparents generated and collected information based on manually measured parameters, today we have many tools that generate a lot of valuable data. However, the producer does not have time to analyze them, especially since the applications are not related to each other and, consequently, the information becomes a problem.

The range of software tools available is large, there are tools for monitoring others crop data management or various crop mapping field management software. And the list goes on. These are attractive apps that, including the lack of dialogue, force the manufacturer to use the one that provides the best solution on a daily basis.

In addition, most of these tools, which are developed from a more agronomic environment, do not have a usability component (UX). Sometimes a conceptually good tool makes it difficult to navigate. This aspect, which many times we do not pay attention to, ends with the introduction of crucial technology for everyday use: if it takes an hour to create a user in an app and five minutes in Amazon, we are doing something. Wrong.

Once the entry is complete, we need a tool that solves different aspects or can relate to another, and only then do we get to the value it can offer us. The key is algorithms and artificial intelligence to turn this data into useful information for the manufacturer and make agronomic work more sustainable and efficient every day.

When choosing a work platform, it is important to consider: what problems it solves, what value it generates; If it is simple and user-friendly, if I can use it and also other users, whether independent or not, what is its relative market value.

While for some it seems far away, for some we are already in the process, the digitalization of our industry is advancing rapidly and will be of immense importance to the present and future of agriculture in the country and in the world.
