The dynamism of business creation continued in the country in the first half of this year with the creation of 172,517 businesses, up 3.7% from the same period in 2021.
Julián Domínguez, president of Confecamaras, said the figures show that 49% of these companies generated at least one job, which is good news for the country due to the recovery and job growth.
“These figures make it clear that companies are a source of well-being, progress and employment. Of the total number of companies created in the semester, 84,541 created new jobs. We must continue to support the country’s businesses, which is why the Chambers of Commerce continue their efforts to promote entrepreneurship and formalization in the areas so that the business fabric continues to grow and generate social prosperity for all Colombians,” said Domínguez.
The Business Creation Dynamics Report, conducted by Confecamaras, based on information from the Single Business and Social Registry (RUES), which collects information from the trade register of the 57 Chambers of Commerce, indicates that companies owned by natural persons from 124,263 to 129,961 , which represents a positive variation of 4.6%.
Similarly, companies grew by 1.1% compared to 2021, from 42,075 to 42,556.
Agriculture grew the most by sector at 17%, followed by the services sector at 10.3% and industry at 6.4%.
Relative to the size of the enterprise, measured by the value of its assets, the largest number of productive units is still consolidated in micro enterprises (99.69%), followed by small enterprises (0.30%) and the rest in medium and large companies (0.01%).
Among the most dynamic sectors in job creation are trade, hospitality, manufacturing, construction and professional, scientific and technical activities.
