King Momo of the Carnival of the 44, Titus Crissientook part in the Spanish Heritage Celebration Parade in the 56th edition on October 9, which had a large presence of various cultural groups representative of the Spanish regions, including the Barranquilla Carnivalbringing all the folklore, music and joy that characterizes this important festival to the North American country.
The event, led by the organization Barranquilla Carnival in New York, represented by Luz Machado, had the participation of several folk groups that bear the name of our carnival in the United States and Canada. Some of the groups in attendance included Carnival of Barranquilla New Jersey, Carnival Group of Barranquilla Florida, Carnival Group of Barranquilla in Canada, Carnival Group of Barranquilla in Washington.
In the parade was present the Consul of Colombia in New York, Crisanto Orlando Torres Pabon, which celebrated the participation and representation of Colombian Caribbean festivities in this important Spanish celebration. For his part, Titus Crissien received recognition from the New York Assembly for his participation and important role as King Momo of the Carnival of the 44.
“It was very exciting to see so many people so far from Barranquilla infested with the spirit of Carnival; so many people from Barranquilla and Colombians who long for carnival from a distance enjoy it and really felt all the good energy of carnival from here in New York.” These were the words of Tito Crissien at the end of his tour on Fifth Avenue, in the popular sector of Time Square.
