the transmission take the news and envoy Pinuccio, continue with the investigation into the San Remo Festival. But let’s take a step back. The satirical newscast explained that, according to a decision by the TAR, the brand of Italy’s most beloved music festival would be owned by the San Remo City Hall, who gives it to Rai every year. The crux is this: the Municipality is a public body and, therefore, must make an open appeal to everyone to decide who to award it to. The Striscia stream points out that it’s not at all obvious that Sanremo will remain a Rai exclusive in the future as well.

The Sanremo Festival can be awarded with a contest

In the episode of Striscia la Notizia, broadcast on Wednesday, October 12, we return to the subject. Pinuccio spoke with the mayor of Sanremo Alberto Biancheri. The man made it known that if it was established that the Sanremo Festival should be awarded through a roll call, he would abide by the rules:

For our part, in recent years there has been no desire or need to go public, not least because it is an agreement that is now the result of a very long work. As far as I know today, this step is not mandatory. If something changes, it is obvious that the municipality of Sanremo will respect the rules.

How much money does Rai give to the Municipality of Sanremo

Striscia la Notizia correspondent Pinuccio then asked how much money Rai gives to the municipality of Sanremo. Mayor Alberto Biancheri replied: “What Rai gives us is around 5 million euros. What would we do in response to a request from another broadcaster that offers us triple the resources?. In short, all that remains is to wait for the next few weeks to find out about any developments and how concrete the hypothesis of a Mediaset-branded Sanremo is.
