“Leo, just a smile and that’s it”, the video by Chiara Ferragni discusses with her son

An unfortunate sentence contained in one of Chiara Ferragni’s stories reignites the debate about the overexposure of children on social media.

Just a minute Leo. Smile then you’re done and you can keep drawing“. A very simple sentence, which however is causing discussion in these last hours. The reason? It is contained in one of the stories published in the last few hours by Chiara Ferragni, before being deleted and reposted without audio. The phrase in question is addressed to Leone, son of Ferragni and Fedez, during the rapper’s birthday party.

The reason for the controversy is immediately stated, because the sentence addressed to Leone, which is not Chiara Ferragni speaking but another female voice, raises an enormous, and probably eternal, theme that has to do with overexposure of children that Ferragni and Fedez would do. A topic that we often question ourselves about and that, in this case, asks for an interpretation of that sentence that points the finger at the couple for an alleged exploitation of the image of their children, in addition to helping to reduce the spontaneity of content published daily in the presence of children. As if underneath there was a kind of mechanicity that, linked to that unfortunate “so it’s over”, can only arouse some perplexity.

for and against

On the other hand, there are those who minimize it, claiming that they do not find anything strange in the sentence itself, probably an object of exploitation and uttered by many parents in relation to their children when they intend to take a picture. The extent of the controversy only confirms the enormous power of influence with which Ferragni and Fedez are endowed and as a simple audio, certainly unfortunate if read in a negative tone, manages to raise one of the contemporary themes, which has to do with the publication on social networks of content that includes children and minors.

Children in social networks, the words of Fedez

On the topic of overexposure of children on social networks, Fedez spoke very clearly, explaining himself in an interview with Breaking Italy a few months ago: “For me and Chiara, who have opted for a certain type of transparent communication, it would be stupid to hide the most beautiful thing in our lives and, in my opinion, it would be stupid. Someone intent on invading our privacy would be there. in doing so, we did so in order to avoid burdening Leone with a blanket and more obsessive attention towards us.”
