A British film dean, star of many seasons of theater and TV, who was also known as a voice actor for having lent his English voice in the first two Harry Potter films, has died at the age of 98.

Leslie Phillips died, British actor, voice actor and writer, known for a long career in film and TV, who became something of an icon for having lent his voice to the Hogwarts Sorting Hat in Harry Potter. Phillips was 98 years old and had long been in poor health, as the Daily Mail writes, which recalls how in 2015 the actor was the victim of a heart attack.

In his career, Phillips has worked on over 150 films and dozens of television products. Awarded the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire, in his career he was nominated for BAFTA awards, consecrating an acting career for which he was initially known only as a comic performer, before starting to play characteristic roles.

The role in Harry Potter

Despite a career full of titles and awards, a very large slice of the public remembers him, in particular, for his role as a voice actor, or when he lent his voice to the Hogwarts Sorting Hat in the first two films of the series.
