The Crown 5
The Crown 5
The wait is over: on November 9, 2022, the fifth season of the acclaimed TV series arrives on Netflix The crown, inspired by the events of the royal family over the decades. The last chapter focuses on the 1990s, a decade marked by scandals and divorces between Prince Charles AND Diana Spencer. Giving the face of the Princess of Wales is Elizabeth Debicki, who inherited the role of Emma Corrin. Judging by the first images, the similarity between the two women is striking. Even off the set, the actress can’t help but be inspired by Lady D’s most famous looks: at the world premiere of The crown she left everyone speechless with a long black dress chosen in honor of her character.
Elizabeth Debicki at the premiere of The Crown 5
The cast of The Crown 5 has gathered in London for the world premiere of the series. On the red carpet we saw “the other” British royal family, dressed in total black: Imelda Staunton, the actress who plays Elizabeth II, chose a black men’s suit with pants and tie. Dominic West and Jonathan Pryce, the actors who play Charles III and Prince Philip respectively, looked impeccable in tuxedos.
Who stole the show, however, was Elizabeth Debicki: for the occasion she chose a long black strapless dress, with a sweetheart neckline and a weave in the back that wrapped the neck, like a shawl. The look, simple and refined, is a Dior couture model, precisely from the Spring/Summer 2022 collection.
On the red carpet she hugged Teddy Hawley and Timothee Sambor, the very young actors who play the show’s principles. The photos, needless to say, immediately made their way around the web: doesn’t it seem to see Lady Diana with her children William and Harry?
The tribute to Lady Diana in Elizabeth Debicki’s look
Refined and radiant in its simplicity: Elizabeth Debicki completed the look with subtle gold bangles and a soft cut at the nape of the neck. Princess Diana has no heirs, but in terms of charm and style, Elizabeth Debicki was certainly inspired by Diana’s most famous looks. The Dior dress chosen for the red carpet is reminiscent of a famous bustier dress that the Princess of Wales wore at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival. The 26-year-old Princess of Wales was inspired by Grace Kelly and chose a pale blue model by Catherine. Walker. It is impossible not to notice the similarity of the neckline, the intertwining of the bodice and the stole on the neck: a desired tribute
or unconscious affinity of style?
