Massimo Foghetti, the journalist who experienced the earthquake live: “I thought about the news”

Interview with Massimo Foghetti, the journalist and presenter of the Fano TV press magazine who broke the news of the earthquake live on the Marche: “We weren’t used to it. It was the biggest shock in years.”

Author: Gennaro Marco Duello

Maximum fogetti is the man in the cover on the day of the earthquake in Marche. The first shock, very strong, recorded at sea 25 km off the coast of Pesaro at 7:07 am, while the journalist was live on Fano TV to read the press review: “Attention, an earthquake occurred at this time.” The sense of duty does not stop the journalist: “I immediately thought of breaking the news”but only the second shock invites everyone to take security measures: “I’m leaving, let’s leave.” On Fanpage.it, the journalist talks about these moments.

Doctor Foghetti, how are you?

I’m fine, I didn’t have anything special. An emotional moment, but it’s all over. God forbid…

But the video is impressive…

Because it was a very strong and relevant shock. We weren’t used to such a thing. We’re talking a 5.6, the biggest shock in years.

The sense of news and duty: after the first shock, she doesn’t go away.

I immediately thought about the news, I didn’t think about what could happen, or the collapse of something. Then came the second shock. At this point, I thought maybe it was best to stay safe. But we stopped everything for less than ten minutes because then we came back and immediately started reporting.

What did he do immediately after returning live?

We gave the references of the commission of the municipal operations center, which is right in the building where the Fano TV studios are, and we started to give the first public service news.

How is the situation?

In the meantime, it is important that there have been no casualties. The damage is negligible for now. Technicians are still around town checking all the buildings, but after several hours, if there was anything relevant, we would know. We can say that we were lucky because the epicenter was in the sea.

Now, is he at rest?

Ninth. I’m at Corriere Adriatico and I’m working on an article about what happened today.

It’s up to you to read it, then. There is also a comment about what you experienced?

Let’s take two pages on Pesaro’s story and, yes, a colleague of mine gave me an interview.
