Paul Wight finally revived his Captain Insane character from Adam Sandler’s The Waterboy on Wednesday when The Acclaimed released their new rap video. Anthony Bowens and Max Caster recreate a scene from Adam Sandler’s classic sitcom and provide commentary as they interview Insano backstage. The three then get a call from two skits from Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland and burst out laughing when the two ask if Swerve has a chance in Our Glory to win the Acclaimed. Complete AEW team🇧🇷
In early 2021, it was revealed that AEW acquired the copyright to Captain Insane and Wight and Tony Khan mocked his involvement with AEW. He said wrestling incl in september “he [Captain Insano] coming back. The man who wrote The Waterboy approved. Tony Khan and I have secured the rights to Captain Insane. A set has already been made, the full nine meters. We’re doing a lot of prep work and this will be my last hurrah, if you will. Let’s face it: I don’t think this character will be a killer trying to beat Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship. … Right now I think this character is just for fun. We’ll see how it goes, but for me right now this is just a chance to have fun with this character and be a bright spot in the show. We’ll see how I feel and see how everyone gets along.”
