Serena Dandini: “My dad squandered it all, so I rolled up my sleeves”

Serena Dandini allows the figure of the father and mother to emerge in her book and, bluntly, the author goes straight to the point:

The fact that my father squandered everything, that he left me no inheritance but his sense of humor, was a great fortune: I started from scratch, free, rolled up my sleeves and achieved more than I would have done if I had been packed in some privilege . My mom? I grew up with Tara’s oath, I will never be like her who gave up her job to obey her husband. At the time, I experienced her choices as a defeat. Instead, as you grow, you come to terms with the fragility you also find within yourself.

Politics and the current moment

We cannot help seeing that climate change, migration, drought, war are phenomena linked by double threads. We cannot think of resolving them by turn down a radiator half a degree or stop a boat. Environment and rights should be the top two items on every politician’s agenda.”
